Bob's Software

Anyone interested in using E-Run for creating algorithmic imagery is welcome to a copy. There is no charge for the software, but I do need to charge a fee to cover the cost of producing the manual. This is a profusely illustrated book of 170 pages, which includes a reference manual for the E language and the E-Run software plus a 4-chapter tutorial. Each copy must be printed on demand on my laser printer, then taken to the local copy shop for binding. The price is $25. If you are in the USA, add $5 for shipping and handling. Send your $30 to:

Bob Brill, 7 Lois Ct., Ann Arbor, MI 48103, USA

Include your email address and the mailing address where you want the software and manual shipped.

If you are outside the USA, email me your mailing address and I will calculate actual shipping cost and bill you by email. Then upon receipt of your payment, I will ship the software and manual to you.

I can accept checks, cash or money orders in US dollars only. I am not set up to accept credit card payment. Allow a few weeks for delivery.

If you have any questions, send me an email.

Be advised that E-Run is a DOS-based program. It also runs under Linux. Click here if you want to know why I work in DOS. There is an appendix in the manual explaining how to reach DOS from Windows 95 or 98.

My motivation for sharing E-Run is twofold: to pass on my knowledge to all who wish to walk the algorithmic path in art and to establish contact with other algorithmic artists. See my page Calling All Algorithmic Artists.

In addition, keeping track of users of E-Run will enable me to provide updates and bug fixes from time to time. One of my beefs with the commercial software industry is that they charge for bug fixes. In my view that is flat out wrong. I can see charging for updates that provide additional functionality, but bugs are programming errors and should be fixed for free.
